Geyserville Unified School District

The MGAL Pilot Program, launching in Fall 2022, will give 65 students in Geyserville Unified School District the opportunity to participate in and help refine the MGAL model. During our pilot program, students will participate in the following programs:

Externships (Fall 2022)

Students gain a front-row view of an expert in their field, giving them the knowledge and tools to make better career decisions post-graduation through an immersive job shadow experience with a locally based business.

Geyserville Unified 9th-12th grade students will be matched with local businesses and professional mentors, where students will complete a 3 day, 15 hour externship. Students will follow MGAL’s externship curriculum, meet daily competencies, and give a final presentation of learning aligned with MGAL’s core values and the Sonoma County Portrait of a Graduate.

Internships (Spring 2023)

Students gain real-world experience, networking opportunities, and a clearer glimpse into their future career path.

Geyserville Unified high school students are matched with a local business, where students will complete a two week, full time internship for six hours per day. Students will follow MGAL’s internship curriculum, meet daily competencies, and give a final presentation of learning aligned with MGAL’s core values and the Sonoma County Portrait of a Graduate.

Domestic Travel (Spring 2023)

Travel is linked to higher academic performance, greater critical thinking skills, and enjoyable leadership opportunities.

A four day, three night, no cost, domestic travel experience for 9th and 10th graders connected to student learning, voice, and choice. Students research and pitch to the MGAL team where they want to go, why, and how it is connected to student projects and larger goals.
